Antonia Phillips - Wildlfowl and Wetlands Trust (WWT) Bursary Winner 2004 Report

I have become totally engaged by these birds – their behaviour and their very essence

Antonia Phillips

This work was about a journey with Barnacle geese, from Svalbard via northern Norway to Caerlaverock in South West Scotland. My Journey’s starting point was at the Wildfowl and Wetland (WWT) centre at Caerlaverock, which is a transient place for the geese; a middle ground in the cycle for feeding and breeding, which then takes them to Ny-Ålesund in the Arctic.

After time at WWT Caerlaverock, I have become totally engaged by these birds – their behaviour and their very essence, including the incredible journey they undertake every year. A circle of flying, feeding, flying, breeding.
