Simon Turvey was born in Kent in 1957. During his teens, along with his love of painting and drawing, he developed a fascination for wildlife. After two years at art college he left to become a professional freelance artist.
Elected a member of SWLA in 1981, he later served as its honorary secretary for a few years.
In recent years, his subject has widened to include portraiture and the human form. As well as the annual SWLA exhibition, his work has been show at the Royal Acadamy Summer Exhibition, the Singer and Friedlander/Sunday Times Watercolour Competition Exhibition and others (including the BP Portrait Award Exhibition).
