David Parry

David Parry trained at Tunbridge Wells and The Central Schools of Art.

Starting out as a natural history illustrator, at the age of 25 he was sent to Rhodesia, as it then was, to illustrate school books, which led to opportunities to visit game parks throughout the country and to start painting and drawing African wildlife. This inspired him to become a full time wildlife artist and, on his return to the UK, he started his career, specialising in African and European wildlife.

He first entered work in the annual SWLA exhibition in 1967 and has had work accepted every year since, becoming a member in the 1970s. During this time he has won the Visitors Choice Award three times and the PCA Drawing Award.

David has sold work internationally, particularly in Africa and the USA. He has visited many East African countries, often on camping safaris, in Zambia and Kenya.

Mostly working to commission, over the years, he has worked for the National Trust, the RSPB and many card and calendar publishers.
