Events during The Natural Eye
The Natural Eye, annual exhibition of The Society of Wildlife Artists runs from 17–27 October (closed Tuesday 22). Alongside the exhibition there is a programme of events including a workshop, talks and demonstrations of painting and drawing.
Thursday 17 October Nik Pollard will be leading a one day sketching workshop. Participants will spend time in St James’s Park observing and drawing the animals and birds. Nik will offer one to one tuition, group learning, drawing from life and a tour of the exhibition. To learn more and book a space click here.
John Dobbs will be in the gallery on Friday 18 October demonstrating his painting techniques and giving an insight into how he works.
Wynona Legg will be giving a talk on Saturday 19 October. ‘An eye on Ringed Plover — a journey in art and conservation’. Alongside practising as an artist, Wynona works full time for the RSPB, leading a project protecting beach nesting birds at Snettisham in North Norfolk. Her observations as both an artist and a conservationist have given her an intimate understanding of the lives of Ringed Plover and the tensions and impacts of beach recreation on their lives. Richard Allen will be in the Galleries Thursday 24 October 11–4 to demonstrate his techniques, while showing and talking about his sketchbooks and watercolours.
Harriet Mead, president of the Society, will be leading a tour of the exhibition at 2pm Thursday 24 October. No booking required.
