Daniel Cole

Daniel lives in Cornwall and works in the Old Bakery Studios in Truro, he was selected as a full member of SWLA in 2005.

Over the years Daniel has won several awards, PJC award for drawing, Bird illustrator of the Year 2000, RSPB Fine Art award, Dry Red Press and in 2016 Swarovski/​Birdwatch Artist of the year. As well as being a gallery artist Daniel worked as an illustrator for many years, with his birds appearing in various field guides, such as Birds of the Indian Subcontinent, Birds of SE Asia, Guide to Garden Birds and Pheasants, Partridges and Grouse of the world. Working mainly in oils, Daniel takes sketches made in the field into the studio using them as a starting point for his paintings, playing with colour and abstraction.
