Richard Tratt paints a variety of wildlife subjects. He is particularly well known for his Wild Habitat oil paintings featuring British Butterflies. He finds the British Countryside an endless source of inspiration.
He likes to work on large canvasses depicting lush wildflower meadows, downland slopes and overgrown glades. He also produces smaller, more intimate studies for individual species.
He has recently had a book published: “Butterfly landscapes” which covers all UK species in natural settings.
