Dafila Scott
After training and working as a zoologist, Dafila Scott turned to drawing and painting, studying under Robin Child at the internationally acclaimed Lydgate Art Research Centre, UK. Her work is inspired by wildlife, landscape and people and arises from a combination of field sketches, memory and translation. Working mostly in oils, acrylics and pastels, she has exhibited widely in the UK. Recent work includes both figurative and abstract paintings inspired by the fenland around her home and also by visits to Wales, Scotland and South Africa.
She was elected a member of the Society of Wildlife Artists in 1991. In 2014 she won the Birdwatch/Swarovski Prize and in 2017 she won the RSPB Award at the Annual Exhibition, The Natural Eye, at the Mall Galleries.
