Christopher Schmidt was born in 1965. At the age of 10 it was the natural diary of a friend that made him start painting and writing what he experienced in the field . His interest in field identification of birds led him to illustrating books and articles in magazines, but the observations around the lakes and shores around his home and journeys abroad have always been the strongest inspiration for his sketches and paintings. He mainly uses watercolours and occasionally acrylics or oil colours. He has been a member of the Society of Wildlife Artists since 1999, the Artists for Nature Foundation, and won the European Bird Art Award.
4 books with his texts and paintings have been published, the latest of which is „Strandläufer“ featuring the birdlife along the coast of the Wadden Sea.
