Esther Tyson


Born in 1973, Esther Tyson was brought up in a small town at the edge of the Lake District, Cumbria. She studied at Carlisle College of Art and Design, Carmarthenshire College of Technology and Art and then London’s Royal College of Art. Esther has exhibited with the SWLA since 1999 where she was Associate and Bursary winner 2000 and was elected a full member in 2004. In 2008 she won the CAPMARK Award and the RSPB Award. In 2012 Esther received the CURWEN Studio Prize and IN 2014 will be one of four artists selected to travel to Senegal with the BTO/SWLA Artists out to Africa.

Esther continues to serve on Council, with involvement as Governor for the SWLA/FBA as a full time painter, working alongside many, inspired by the natural world.

Esther currently lives and works in the South Peak District, Derbyshire.
