Janet Robinson – 2005

Working for NGO Azafady in SE Madagascar for three months, planning and executing art based environmental education projects.
Working in Madagascar was amazing, humbling, and really challenging. It expanded my limits in every respect, opening my eyes to the realities of life in one of the worlds most beautiful yet poverty stricken countries. Working for Azafady made me realise that art can play a valuable role in nature conservation and it has inspired me to seek work in this area.
I gained valuable contacts by undertaking this project, and have since been commissioned as an artist and designer for The Ako Project which creates books and posters for primary school children in Madagascar.
I work as an artist and illustrator, specialising in the portrayal of natural history subjects and am now planning to begin teacher training, as I’ve done some private art teaching and really enjoyed it.
